POSITION AVAILABLE – Rutherford County Senior Center has an opening for a Nutrition Site Manager at the Rutherford County Senior Center in Spindale.  Part time 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM -1:00 PM, $9.82 per hour.  Under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Site Coordinator.  Work involves assisting with serving and clean-up of lunch, record keeping regarding ordering of meals, attendance and meals served. Rutherford County has a full time Real Property Appraiser I position available. Reports to the Revenue Director.  Position appraises residential dwellings and commercial buildings according to code, studies building plans and information pertaining to sales, prepares field cards, appraises lots in subdivisions or other land splits, determines market value, uses a variety of Tax Office records to obtain data concerning location, owner and dimensions of property, reviews appraisals and determines whether or not assessment should be modified, defends values and makes recommendations to the Board of Equalization and Review, resolves new construction and land value complaints, assists taxpayers in correcting records of real property listing, and other duties as assigned:  Graduation from high school with Bachelors preferred in field of study, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of position including understanding of three approaches to value regarding cost, sales comparison, and income, Certification as a Tax Appraiser by the Ad Valorem Tax Division of the NC Department of Revenue and certification by the NC Association of Assessing required within 2 - 3 years of employment. Rutherford County Revenue Department has a Tax Collection  Assistant position open: Work involves clerical work in the Tax Collector’s office providing general information to the public on tax laws and policies, assisting in maintaining accurate records of delinquent taxes, and performing general clerical duties within the Collections office.  Accepts and sorts payments by account type and posts in computer files.  Balances cash drawer against daily receipts and processes for deposit.  Identifies and researches delinquent taxpayers by place of employment, financial institution, and other criteria in order to serve Notice of Garnishment, attachment, and other letters of collection.  Employee is responsible for considerable data entry in computerized files and other duties as assigned. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in performing assigned tasks and ensuring accurate records.  Employee must exercise tack, courtesy and firmness in frequent contact with general public.  Employee reports to the Tax Collection Coordinator and the Revenue Director.  Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.  $24,376 plus benefits. Min req:  High School diploma, knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with training in the field of work with 1-2 years of experience. Rutherford County Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for a part-time Program and Outreach Coordinator. Responsibilities include working with Rutherford County Farmer’s Market vendors and customers, event planning, and Extension program support. Under limited supervision, performs on-site management in operating and controlling the County's Farmers Market.  Work involves planning, organizing and directing operations of the market, including opening nad closing the market, authorizing vendors, welcoming customers, and enforcing rules and regulations of the market.  Work also involves inspecting fruits and vegetables, receiving complaints/feedback and directing to appropriate persons, collection of and daily accounting of vendor fees, and maintaining clean and safe grounds and building.

 Preferred Skills:  The successful candidate should be a team player who is self-motivated and proficient in computer skills (email and Microsoft Office), event planning, meeting facilitation, conflict resolution/problem solving, marketing, and customer service. He/she should also be able to network and collaborate with other entities as needed.

 A valid driver’s license is required. Background check required.

 High School diploma with at least 2 year’s customer service skills preferred.

 Position Details: This is a part-time position – 25 hours per week Tuesday-Saturday.

POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger van.  Must assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, position, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle (This requires ability to pull, push, bend over, stoop and get down on hands and knees). Must be able to operate 2-way radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Position is 29 hours per week, Monday-Friday.  $9.53 per hour.  Minimum requirements: valid N.C. driver’s license, CDL with passenger endorsement preferred, excellent driving record, five years experience as a licensed driver, graduation from high school, pre-employment drug test and DOT physical.  Participation in random, post-accident drug and alcohol testing is required.  Apply Rutherford County Human Resources Department, 289 N. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.

 All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Office:


Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office has a Jail Administrator Position Available:  This position is currently classified as a Civilian position but may become a Sworn Law Enforcement position. We encourage LEO individuals and Civilians to apply.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in working with Law Enforcement and or Detention.
  2.  Supervisory experience preferred.
  3. DOCC School preferred but not required.
  4. Must have working knowledge of computer operations. Knowledge of Jail Vision system (RMS) is preferred.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Is Seeking Experienced Full-Time Telecommunicators for

911 Communications

Position is supervised by the Communications Director. Work involves operating a computerized work station while answering emergency and non-emergency calls. Work requires ability to multi-task, ability to func-tion in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry. Position involves dis-patching of Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Tele-communicators work in a confined area under constant exposure to radio traffic, ringing telephones, and conversations occurring simultaneously.
Minimum requirements: must be 21 years of age, High School Diploma, proficient in computer keyboarding, must be able to pass an onsite aptitude test. Applicant must have experience as a Telecommunicator.
Potential applicant must also pass drug test and background check. Usual work schedule is twelve hours. Hours may be scheduled for days, eve-nings, weekends, or holidays. Salary range 29,000 - 31,350 includes overtime and benefits.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check. Applicant must meet Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office requirements and be eligible for certification by NC Sheriffs’ Training and Standards Commission.  Wages:  $13.48 while training, $13.99 when certified.  Work schedule: 12 hour days/evenings, weekends and holidays.  Apply at Rutherford County Sheriffs’ Office, 198 N.
