To request an absentee ballot by mail you must do one of the following:

1.     Any voter registered in Rutherford County can request a mail - in absentee ballot from the Rutherford County Board of Elections prior to the last Tuesday before an election by completing the Absentee Ballot Request Form.   When a valid request is received, the county board of elections office will mail the voter absentee balloting materials to the address provided on the request form

2.     Have an immediate family member make a request as listed above. Approved to make this request are Spouse, Brother, Sister, Parent, Grandparent, Child, Grandchild, Mother-in-law, Father-in-law, Daughter-in-law, Son-in-law, Stepparent, Stepchild, and Verifiable legal guardian. Please note that no one with Power of Attorney is allowed to sign unless they are the voter's near relative or the voter's verifiable legal guardian.

 3.     Come to our office at 298 Fairground Rd. in Spindale, NC and complete a form or have any immediate relative as described above come to our office and make a request for you.

  • You are no longer allowed to hand write a request for an absentee ballot on any form. It must be requested on the State approved form provided.                                  

 

To Vote an Absentee Ballot in Person

 

You may vote an absentee one-stop ballot in our office beginning the second Thursday before each election. One stop hours are posted on this website before each election.
