Position Available-Rutherford County has (2) TWO Full Time 911 Assistant Shift Supervisor
Shift schedule: 12-hour night shift 6pm – 6am.

Salary: Minimum starting at $39,429.00

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Rutherford County Communications Director, an employee in this class will meet the standards required as a basic Telecommunicator classification with The Rutherford County 911 Communications, along with the additional duties of an Assistant Shift Supervisor. The position will be the secondary point of contact and control within the center during a shift for employees under their charge. This position will fill in the vacancy of the Shift Supervisor when they are unavailable. Additional Specific Job Description available upon request
Knowledge and Skills: General knowledge of computers, email, phones, various computer programs. General empathy and professional communications skills to provide proper guidance to staff and callers. Familiar with CAD systems, DCI, and NCIC procedures. Familiar with law, fire, and medical services dispatching. Ability to provide professional and empathetic leadership for staffing. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to remain calm under circumstances which may involve life hazard incidents. Ability to understand and implement agency standard operating procedures and policy. Ability to multi-task between answering phones, and radio traffic simultaneously. Ability to work twelve (12) hour shifts (current two openings is on night shift) Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Eligibility Requirements: Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Telecommunicator. Preferred current certifications in National Academy NA-EMD, CPR, NC/DCI Module 1-3, or ability to achieve within three (3) months. Preferable previous supervisory experience, but not required.  Position Available - Rutherford County has a part time Heavy Equipment Operator position available. Position reports to the Solid Waste Director.  Work involves a variety of tasks, including loading, packing and covering refuse at the Landfill using heavy equipment such as front loader, dozer, and dump trucks. Main duties will be performed at the Transfer Station and C&D. Position will also be required to bushhog as assigned.  Minimum requirements:  Clean driving record.  Knowledge of equipment safety, driving skills and county geography.  Must have ability to get along with the general public.  Work is performed indoors and outdoors, subject to weather conditions and is classified as heavy labor.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push 100 lbs.  Hours/Days: Monday, Tuesday and Friday 7:30-2:00, occasional Saturday work 7:30-12:30.  Hourly rate $16.57.  Drug and background test required. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger van.  Must assist elderly and/or passengers with a disability to board and/or leave the vehicle, must be able to load, position, secure, and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicles (This requires ability to pull, push, bend over, stoop and get down on hands and knees). Must be able to operate 2-way radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Position is up to 19 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Processing of calls within a computer aided dispatch (CAD) program. Dispatching of Rutherford County emergency service personnel to aid the needs of the citizens and visitors to Rutherford County. Continually collaborates well with coworkers, field personnel, after hours agencies. Candidate will be working with a team to complete the mission and values of Rutherford County 911 Communications. Willingness to put forth time, and effort to complete a comprehensive training program for the first six (6) to twelve (12) weeks before becoming a solo Telecommunicator.
Minimum Training and Experience: Must be 18 years of age. Graduation from high school or equivalent. Ability to type a minimum 20WPM. Successfully complete a computerized skills assessment (Critical) Successfully complete a board interview. Successfully complete a decision-making assessment. Successfully pass a criminal background, drug test, and hearing assessment. Position Available-Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority has a part time, Welcome Center Information Specialist position available at the Welcome Center located in Lake Lure, NC. Applicant must be able to handle an extremely fast-paced environment. Knowledge of or willingness to learn, and ability to share county tourism assets, attractions, restaurants, lodging and events will be required. This position will primarily work from the Welcome Center in Lake Lure, and may also assist at occasional events. Duties include, but are not limited to, greeting visitors, answering phone calls, researching and providing verbal or printed/written information, restocking informational brochures, stocking supplies and janitorial cleaning within center. Candidate must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, stoop and reach. The ideal candidate must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and preferably 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service position. Candidate must be a reliable, flexible, personable individual that has strong communication skills. Candidate must be able to utilize computers with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, internet research skills and must also be familiar with iPads. This job requires a flexible schedule, which will include weekends and holidays and is up to 19 hours per week.
