Position Available – The Rutherford County Senior Center is seeking to hire a part-time kitchen assistant position. The position is 29 hours per week. Normal hours are 6am – 12pm Monday-Thursday and 6am-11am on Fridays. Hours are subject to change and may vary. The position is under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, and under the direct supervision of the Kitchen Manager. Position is responsible for helping with food preparation, cooking, serving and storing food and meal items, maintaining sanitation standards, cleaning kitchen and serving areas, stocking and unloading, estimating food orders, checking inventory, and following correct food and safety standards. Job duties are subject to change based on the circumstances. The employee is subject to hazards associated with food preparation and cooking including exposure to heat and a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils. Minimum requirements: High School diploma with education/experience in food service. Position is eligible for retirement with the NC Retirement System.  Pay is $10.02 per hour. Position Available- Rutherford County Senior Center has a part time Assistant Activity Coordinator Position available in Spindale.  Part-Time 19 hours per week, Mon.-Fri. Hours vary. $10.02 per hour. Under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, under the direct supervision of the Program Manager.  Position is responsible for assisting, planning, coordinating, and implementing recreational, social, and education programs for senior citizens. Work involves planning activities, soliciting volunteers for education and social programs, room set-ups, assisting with Senior Games, and lifting up to 50 lbs.  Rutherford County Revenue Department has a Tax Technician position open: Work involves administrative, technical and customer service duties in the Assessor’s office providing general information to the public on tax laws and policies, assisting in maintaining accurate records of real and personal property, list and assesses personal property, compares listings with last years’ forms for accuracy and/or changes, utilizes price guides to assign values to personal property items, and provides customer service by telephone and in person to obtain information or resolve discrepancies.  Assists taxpayers with inquiries about tax assessments; reviews property valuation data errors; forwards real property information to appraisal division as appropriate.  Reviews and evaluates exclusion information and enters data into computer records.  Updates monthly registered (tagged) motor vehicle billing data in State billing system.  Processes bill adjustments and tax refunds as state law requires.  Maintains records and associated forms concerning workflow and completion dates and other duties as assigned.  Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.  $29,054 plus benefits. Min req:  Graduation from high school and one year of administrative experience in tax assessment, real estate and/or appraisal operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a Multi passenger vehicle.  Must also assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle.  Must be able to operate an open air radio to maintain radio contact.   Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 19 hrs/week, possibility hours will increase to 29. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.  All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks. Rutherford County Sheriff's Office:

 Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking full-time detention officers.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma, and be able to pass a drug test and an extensive criminal background check.  Applicant must meet Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office requirements and be eligible for certification by NC Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission.  Work schedule-rotating 12 hour shifts.  Salary $33,251 with full benefit package which includes health/dental insurance, State retirement and 401k.
