Food & Nutrition Program Overview

Food & Nutrition Applications are accepted Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

ePASS is a tool that lets you check on the Internet to see if you may be eligible for several North Carolina benefits and services. It makes it easier to apply for benefits and can also help you decide if you want to apply for assistance. You can complete and print off an application for Food and Nutrition Services and Medicaid and mail it or bring it to DSS.

Who is eligible to participate in the Food & Nutrition program?
 People who live together and buy food and prepare meals together are grouped as a household for the Food and Nutrition Services. Husbands and wives, and children under age 22 living with natural, adoptive or step-parents must be considered as one household.
Household members included must be United States citizens or legal aliens.
 
There are certain guidelines that household members between the ages of 18 and 59 may be required to participate in under the Food and Nutrition Services Training Program unless a specified exemption is met.
