Automated Work Permit Issurance Now Available
 
The state has implemented a new system whereby youths can obtain a Youth Employment Certificate (Work Permit) via the internet. This system was implemented in response to comments from applicants and parents regarding the travel required to get a permit under the “old” system. 
 
The automated system can be accessed as follows:
 
  1. Access the North Carolina Department of Labor Website
  2. Click on “Youth Employment Certificate” in the Quick Clicks section
  3. Follow the instructions provided
  4. Contact our office at (919) 807-2796 or 1-800 NC LABOR with questions or problems in using this system
Work Permits for Youth can be obtained at the Department of Social Services Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
